The Keurig B60 – Coffee Perfection?

Every once in awhile there comes along a coffee making device that literally changes the way we think about brewing coffee. Such is the case with the Keurig B60 single cup coffee maker. In case you’re new to the world of single cup brewers, these machines are able to brew a cup of coffee in under a minute with almost zero manual input from the operator. There is no clean-up required and almost no preparation, and yet these machines are capable of brewing consistently great coffee. The secret behind the success of these machines is their ability to take the human element out of the process, thereby completely eliminating the possibility of error. A precisely measured pod of ground coffee is inserted into the machine and the user presses the brew button. The machine pierces the pod and introduces the perfect amount of heated brew water to the grounds. The result is coffee perfection.

Of course, it wasn’t Keurig that originally developed the pod brewing system; that honor goes to the Philips Corporation who would later release the Senseo system. Some would argue that Keurig has taken the Senseo concept to new heights, creating a line of mid-luxury coffee makers that offers the user complete control over their coffee making experience. In addition to brewing a cup of coffee in just under a minute, Keurig allows the user to choose from over 70 different types of coffee, meaning that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

In looking at the most popular Keurig coffee maker, the B60, there are many things to like about it. First things first – the machine simply looks great. With its chrome accents and blue backlit LED display, it’s sure to attract its fair share of attention as it sits on your counter. The machine also feels well made as opposed to many of its competitors that are made almost entirely of plastic. The display panel and the buttons surrounding it allow the user to control every aspect, including the beverage size and strength. The Keurig B60 special edition is able to brew 3 different serving sizes – 5.25, 7.25 and 9.25oz. The largest size is nearly perfect for most travel mugs and can be doubled if necessary with the insertion of an additional pod.

In terms of performance, the B60 is able to produce some fantastic results. The resulting cup is clean all the way through without any bits of coffee grounds at the bottom. The coffee is also very smooth and never bitter, thanks in large part to the precise nature of the brewing process. What is most impressing about these machines is that they simply brew outstanding coffee, time after time. There are no bad cups with the Keurig, and for that we recommend it wholeheartedly. Although you could likely achieve superior results using freshly roasted beans and a manual French Press or other small coffee maker, the average person simply doesn’t want to deal with such things, particularly in the early morning hours. We say skip the hassle and just buy a Keurig.
